Planes, Trains and Automobiles…
Another cold and rainy day here in Southern Delaware. Or, as the locals like to call it tongue in cheek: “Lower Slower Delaware”!

Not sure whether or not Brad and myself would be considered “locals” by now. However it has been four years since we packed up in Washington DC and decamped to Rehoboth Beach in Lower Slower Delaware. We’ve never looked back…
Contrary to popular believe by “outsiders” there is more to this area than beach. One of the more interesting attractions to visit is the Air Mobility Command Museum in Dover, Delaware. The museum is on the grounds of the US Air Force Base in Dover, about a 40 minute drive from our house. It is the largest and busiest air freight terminal operated by the US Department of Defense. Dover AFB is part of the Air Mobility Command, which is tasked with moving materiel and personnel around the globe via aircraft, like this C-5M “Super Galaxy”:

The AMC Museum has an extensive collection of aircraft showing the development of materiel and personnel air transportation since the Second World War. It’s quite the candy store for the aviation buff!
Personally I do not know much about aircraft at all, though I do appreciate the technology and design involved. Even though I understand the physics behind flying it still amazes me that a 420 ton airplane actually gets off the ground.
